1 lb of lean ground beef ( or hamburger meat)
2 whole eggs, beaten with a 1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1 cup panko breadcrumbs, or normal breadcrumbs mix
1 small onion, minced
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon of oregano leaf
1 teaspoon salt (or sea salt)
Ground pepper to taste
1/4 cup minced fresh basil leaf (or parsley)
First mix together all the ingredients except the beef in a kitchen bowl. Once these have been mixed together, add in the beef and begin to incorporate it into all the flavours. (This ensures and even coverage and that you don’t overwork the meat)
Using a spoon scoop out the mixture and form small “golf ball” sized meatballs and place onto a baking tray. (You can use baking paper to help prevent the meatballs sticking)
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
These Baked Meatballs are very simple to make, however if you are in need of a Gluten free option in regards to Panko , you may use crushed rice chex as a great alternative.
When making a large batch using this Baked Meatballs Recipe we always recommend ensuring all the ingredients apart from the beef are mixed together before hand. This helps to ensure when adding the beef you don’t overwork the meat as you want the meatballs to be firm and stay in the small “golf ball” shape in the oven while baking.
